Ring! Ring! What's that bell mean? It means school's IN for summer! Come join the class and experience our campers perform some of your favorite Broadway numbers. Let them bring you back to school for summer through song, acting and dance!

Normally summer school is a dreaded thing, but join our camp musical theater performers as they sing solos and duets about school days to live music!

      Yikes! Cockroaches in a science lab plot a breakout! Campers will design costumes and sets in addition to acting in the production.

      Are you ready for the magic of live theater? Young people from ages nine to eighteen can build skills and confidence at our two-track summer theater camp!


      We offer experienced instructors, a quality curriculum, and a great facility, the James-York Playhouse at 200 Hubbard Lane in Williamsburg. At the end, campers will be ready to show off their new progress in our camp showcases!


      The initial two-week camp runs from Monday, July 17 to Friday, July 28th culminating with Showcase performances on July 28th, July 29th, and July 30th. Students can choose from one of the following options:

      • [TRACK IS FULL AND REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED]Acting Track in the morning from 8:30 am to 12:00 on Monday through Thursday and 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on both Fridays
      • [TRACK IS FULL AND REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED]Musical Theater Track from 12:30 to 5 pm Monday through Thursday and 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on both Fridays
      • [TRACK IS FULL AND REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED]Combined Track (Acting and Musical Theater Tracks) for the full day (Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00pm)

      For the first time, we are also offering a third week of camp from July 31st to August 6th available only to those students who registered for the same track(s) from the first two weeks in order to further build on the first two weeks of instruction:

      • [TRACK IS FULL AND REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED]One-Act Track: Our students who are registered for the two-week acting or combined tracks will be eligible to register for our one-act play morning track (8:30 am to 12:00 on Monday through Friday) with performances on August 4th and August 5th.
      • [TRACK IS FULL AND REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED]Solo Musical Track: Our students who are registered for the two-week musical or combined tracks will be eligible to register for our solo-focused musical afternoon track (12:30 to 5 pm Monday through Friday) with performances on August 5th and August 6th.
      • [TRACK IS FULL AND REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED]Combined Track (One-Act and Solo Musical Tracks): Students who registered for the two-week combined track are eligible to register for both third-week tracks and the associated performances.
      What Your Child Gets
      • Experienced, attentive instructors, ready to deliver an introductory experience to new young performers or growth opportunities for more experienced kids
      • Ten 3 1/2- 4 1/2-hour weekdays of instruction per track (first two weeks)
      • Five additional 3 1/2- 4 1/2-hour weekdays of instruction per track if registering for the third week
      • Performance opportunities
      • A camp t-shirt for all students registered for the first two weeks
      • Snacks (Campers are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch from 12:00 to 12:30 if doing both tracks each day)

      Cost (First Two Weeks Only; July 17th - July 30th)
      • $400 for Acting track (8:30 am to 12:00) (same price as last year)
      • $450 for Musical Theater track (12:30 to 5 pm) (same price as last year)
      • $750 for full-day instruction in both tracks (8:30am to 5pm) (same price as last year)

      Cost (Third Week Option; July 31st - August 6th)
      • an additional $200 for the One-Act Acting track (8:30 am to 12:00) (available only for Acting and Combined track students)
      • an additional $250 for the Solo Musical track (12:30 to 5 pm) (available only for Musical and Combined track students)
      • an additional $400 for full-day instruction in both tracks (8:30am to 5pm) (available only for Combined track students)

      Jennifer Lent Hamilton (musical theatre track)

      Jennifer Lent Hamilton is a professor of Dance at Christopher Newport University. She began J&M Productions in 2017. It serves the community by providing Voice and Dance Lessons, A Youth Performance Group, Broadway Summer Camp and multiple shows a year. When she's not teaching, you can often see her on the stage, performing leading roles in shows at Williamsburg Players and other theatres throughout the region. She serves as the Summer Camp Director and Volunteer Coordinator on the Board at The Williamsburg Players.


      Julie King (acting track)

      Julie King is a retired theatre educator with more than 25 years' experience with young actors in productions and classes. She serves as the Season Development leader on the Williamsburg Players Board and has directed Squabbles, Cheaper by the Dozen, Anne of Green Gables, You Can't Take It with You, and other Players' productions. Her philosophy of teaching theatre involves both acting and understanding the basic production elements of a play.
