Policy
Video Tape, Shows
Purpose
This sets the policy regarding video taping performances.
Policies
The taking of a video requires the securing of Mechanical rights as well as performance rights. It is the policy of the Williamsburg Players to only secure the performance rights and not the mechanical rights to any production.
Therefore, the Williamsburg Players will not grant permission for the video taping of any performance for sale or distribution. This includes the making of a tape of performances for theater archive or personal archive of an actor or actors.
A specific production may elect to fully underwrite and secure the Mechanical rights. In that event the Williamsburg Players shall be provided a copy of the confirmation of mechanical rights prior to allowing video taping. The Players shall receive a copy of the tape or CD of the show in return for the seat or seats used by the camera operator.
Board will also not establish a franchise or single point agreement to provide video services for any aspect of production or rehearsal.
