2025 Summer Theater Camp

Initial Two-Week Track: July 14th - July 26th
Follow-up One-Week Track: July 28th - August 3rd


Are you ready for the magic of live theater? Young people from ages nine to eighteen can build skills and confidence at our two-track summer theater camp!

We offer experienced instructors, a quality curriculum, and a great facility, the James-York Playhouse at 200 Hubbard Lane in Williamsburg. At the end, campers will be ready to show off their new progress in our camp showcases! Space is limited, so register as soon as possible!

The initial two-week camp runs from Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 25th culminating with three showcase performances combining both camps on July 25th (7PM) and July 26th (3PM & 7PM). Students can choose from one of the following options:

  • [TRACK IS FULL] Acting Track in the morning from 8:30 am to 12:00, Monday through Friday.
  • Musical Theater Track from 12:30 to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • [TRACK IS FULL] Combined Track (Acting and Musical Theater Tracks) for the full day (8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday).

The following third week of camp from July 28th to August 3rd available to those students who registered for the same track(s) from the first two weeks in order to further build on the first two weeks of instruction:

  • One-Act Track: Students who are registered for the two-week acting or combined tracks will be eligible to register for our one-act play morning track (8:30 am to 12:00, Monday through Friday) culminating in a one-act play on August 1st (7PM) and August 2nd (2PM).
  • Solo Musical Track: Students who are registered for the two-week musical or combined tracks will be eligible to register for our solo-focused musical afternoon track (12:30 to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday) culminating in a short original musical on August 3rd (Evening - Time TBD) and August 4th (Afternoon or Evening - Time TBD).
  • Combined Track (One-Act and Solo Musical Tracks): Students who are registered for the two-week combined track are eligible to register for both third-week tracks (8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday) and will perform in the associated one-act play and short original musical included with both camps.

If your child has attended one of our past camps, and you would like to register ONLY for the third week, please email summercamp@williamsburgplayers.org with the desired third-week track option and name of the child. Note that this option is ONLY available to past WP summer campers. DO NOT REGISTER VIA THE LINK BELOW. You will receive special instructions to register.


For the One-Act third week camp ONLY: if your child has not attended one of our past camps but has some acting experience/training and would like to register ONLY for the One-Act third week camp, please contact our One-Act instructor Julie King (email jking1318@gmail.com or call 507-381-1318) to arrange an audition for this advanced camp. DO NOT REGISTER VIA THE LINK BELOW.


What Your Child Gets

Cost (First Two Weeks Only; July 14th - July 26th)

  • $450 for Musical Theater track
  • [TRACK IS FULL] $800 for full-day instruction in both tracks

Cost (Third Week Option; July 28th - August 3rd)

Jennifer Lent Hamilton (musical theater track)

Jennifer Lent Hamilton is a professor of Dance at Christopher Newport University. She began J&M Productions in 2017. It serves the community by providing Voice and Dance Lessons, A Youth Performance Group, Broadway Summer Camp and multiple shows a year. When she's not teaching, you can often see her on the stage, performing leading roles in shows at Williamsburg Players and other theaters throughout the region. She serves as the Summer Camp Director and Volunteer Coordinator on the Board at The Williamsburg Players.


Julie King (acting track)

Julie King is a retired theater educator with more than 25 years' experience with young actors in productions and classes. She is also a private acting coach for actors of all ages, and has directed Squabbles, Cheaper by the Dozen, Anne of Green Gables, You Can't Take It with You, and other Players' productions. Her philosophy of teaching theater involves both acting and understanding the basic production elements of a play.
