For auditions please prepare 32 measures (approximately 1-2 minutes) of music from a Broadway musical. Please bring sheet music to the audition, an accompanist will be provided. The song does not have to be from the show, but it should show off you voice in the best possible way. After singing auditions, there will be a movement audition (fear not, not everyone has to dance in this show). But we would like to see your ability to move onstage.

Sir Percival Blakeney/The Scarlet Pimpernel/Grappin
Sir Percy is 3 distinct characters, he needs to be an excellent actor, Tenor/baritone, 30s, accent, sword fighting As well as an outstanding singer. It is a huge role and will require a lot of commitment. As "Percy" he is a polite, dignified, aristocratic gentleman. When appearing as "Grappin" the Belgian spy, he has to have an accent. When trying to pit Chauvelin off the scent of the Pimpernel, he has to appear as a silly ass only interested in fashion and frippery.

Marguerite St Just Mezzo-soprano, 25-30, light French accent
A feisty, beautiful French lady. She is the leading actor and singer at the "Comedie Francaise." She marries, Sir Percy and goes to live with him in England. Marguriet is a major principal Role and a "big" sing. Marguerite is a risk taker and a very gutsy woman.

Chauvelin
Baritone/tenor, 30s, French accent, sword fighting.
The villain of the piece. He was once Marguerite's lover and is incredibly jealous of Sir Percy. He is a man with no conscience and a thoroughly nasty piece of work. He has some great songs and some strong acting scenes with Marguerite. He is a very dark character always dressed in black.

Armand St. Just Baritone/tenor late teens early 20s
Marguerite' younger brother.. He is completely devoted to his sister as she is to him. And would do anything for her. He is besotted by the ideals of the Pimpernel and is in in awe of his brother-in-law, Sir Percy. A lovable and intense young man who tries so hard to make himself useful to the Pimpernel. Some good singing required, strong acting role.

Marie Groscholtz 25-30
Marguerite's best friend. Marie is the costume and scenery designer at the "Comedie Francaise." She is an accomplished artiste, I French and speaks with an accent. If anything, she is more feisty than Marguerite. She is engaged to Phillips Toussaud. Not a difficult sing.

Robespierre 50-60, non-singing
Chauvelin' boss. Another dark villain. Nice acting role with a French accent Not to demanding.

Marquis St. Cyr
A singing role only. Appears only in the beginning of the show, so can also be in the chorus.

Helen Dessen
A singing role only, She appears as one of the prisoners awaiting execution and Sings farewell to her child. Can also be in the chorus.

Lucille Demondius
Singing role only. A prisoner who sings a farewell to her husband, can also be in the chorus.

Mrs. Jessup - Male of Female flexible age
Sir Percy's housekeeper/butler. A few lines, mostly in Act I so also in the chorus.

Prince of Wales 40s
Larger than life. He appears in two important scenes. A little singing (non-solo). An enjoyable support role. Could also be in the chorus.

Phillips Toussaud 30s
Marie's fiance. Not a big role, appears in two scenes. An enjoyable support role, will also Sing in the chorus.

Mercier and Coupeau
Any age, non singing, Chauvelin's aides.
Not very savory characters with odd lines. Also chorus.

Ozzy, Dewhurst, Elton, Farleigh,Hal and Ben
Percy's Bounders - The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel
All from aristocratic families. All personable men. Must all be good actors (especially when Acting the fools with Percy). They sing as a group and have some serious acting to do. Strong singing roles. The Bounder's scenes are very important and they are a constant thread throughout. Dewhurst has the most libretto, but all have individual lines.

Ensemble
SATB chorus, cupids of the Comedie Francaise, Soldiers, Prisoners, Paris street mob, Royal Ball guests Six girl servants at the Blakeney estate.
